The doctors put the swan catheter in yesterday to check Gordy's pressures. The pressure levels where great so they took the swan out. Gordy has been put back on the transplant list as a B1. The reason he is not on the top priority A1 list is because patients can only be on the this for 30 days. At this time the doctors prefer not to use up those 30 days. He will remain on the B1 list for now. It's difficult to explain. Anyway, the doctors know what they are doing. Once his blood levels come up to a 2.0 or better he will be able to return to the hotel. Looks like that should be on Monday.
When I talked to Gordy today he sounded really good. He is looking forward to seeing his buddies next weekend. Sounds like there may be a Bull's vs. Piston's game in the works. I'm sure that will be very exciting for Gordy.
Gordy; Within the next week or so Greg, Becky and I will be out to see you. Let's make some plans...

Back in hospital to get pressures checked
Hi everyone,
Gordy called tonight; he wanted everyone to know that when he was at the clinic today the doctors were pleased to see that all his levels were good. They decided to admit him in the hospital so they could check his heart and lung pressures. He will be taken off the cumiden. By Friday they will put in the swan catedor to check his pressures. If the pressures continue to be low, by Monday he will be put back on the transplant list, and go back to the hotel.
He certainly sounds good and feels good. He's looking forward to getting through this week. And will be ready to get that call for a new heart.
Mom is coming home tonight on the train, while Gordy is in the hospital. Then she will be back for Gordy's return to the hotel. God bless her for caring for Gordy. It hasn't been easy being away from home for either of them.
Keep sending all the good well wishes and prayers. Gordy appreciates hearing from you all.
As I get more information I will post.
Thanks again for all your kindness.

moved to new room at the hotel
Just so everyone knows, Gordy has moved to a bigger room at the hotel, it's room 301. The room has a single bedroom along with a larger kitchen and livingroom. Not much space to put your clothes but the bigger room allows for more privacy.
You will notice that I put a slideshow of the Lena Lou benefit pictures on the side panel of the blog.
It been very hard for Gordy to be away from home. So feel free to write a post or comment to help cheer him up.

Happy New year everyone, I'm feeling pretty good, my check up went good, I have some swelling in my feet and legs, so they adjusted my meds, I need to get back on the list but first they have to put in a right catheter (swan) to measure my heart pressures once they get the swelling under control. I really miss my family, its been a long time.

back to the hotel today
Mom and I went to the Jewel store by cab this morning to get groceries for Gordy's home (Hotel) coming. When we got back we put together venison stew and put it in the crockpot for dinner. Then we walked up to the hospital to pack up Gordy's belongings to bring him back to the hotel. Gordy is feeling really good. I almost beat him in a three streets game of gin, but I goofed up at the end. Dinner was very good, but filling. Thanks Michelle for providing the vension. :)
The training went well. We are all educated now on how to change his dressing, change the batteries in the LVAD and respond to the alarms. There is a lot more to the LVAD pump with all the different alarms that could occur. As long as Gordy continues to feel good there shouldn't be any problems.
In a week or so once the doctors have checked his lung pressures, if they are good, Gordy should be able to be put back on the transplant list.
Tomorrow I will go back home on the train. Mom will stay with Gordy until Kim comes on Sunday to be with Gordy for the New Year. Then mom will be back on Tuesday.
All is well, we are all so happy to see Gordy doing so good. Please feel free to give your well wishes to Gordy on this blog.
All the best, Deb
