Finally Home

Gordy is finally home. He is feeling really good. As you all can imagine he is very excited to be home as well as a little overwhelmed. He will be able to get back to a normal life now with his family. We are all so very happy for Gordy and his family.
There are a lot of people our family would like to thank. The doctors and nurses at Northwestern Memorial Hospital were amazing. The wonderful people at the Residents Inn made Gordy's time in Chicago a lot easier to bare. All the well wishes and prayers from family and friends were very well received. We thank you all. And most of all we would like to thank our mother for all her love and caregiving she gave to Gordy.
Mom, you are an amazing woman. It takes a special kind of person to put your needs aside in service to another. You did this everyday and we want you to know that your hard work did not go unnoticed. Your strength, determination, and willingness to be there for Gordy is a selfless act. For every encouraging word you spoke, every tear you wiped, or meal you cooked, please know that your contributions mattered. After all, when you consider the big picture, what could possibly be more important than sharing your love with your son. We are thankful to have a mother like you. We love you!

Thanks again and best wishes to my brother who is loved so much!
Deb

Hello to all,
I think we need to remember Gordy's dad who was home alone most of the time I was with Gordy. He called everyday to see how Gordy and I were doing. He was in Chicago when Gordy had to go back in the hospital. Our friends made sure he didn't starve and did laundry and cleaned my house. Thanks to Donna and Madalyn for most of that. Thanks to the White Lake Eagles and Aux. for donating money to help cover our travels to Chicago. Thanks to Tim O'Connell (Gordy's best man at his wedding)for staying with Gordy for a week so I could have a break. Bonnie and Al (Bills cousins in Chicago) for giving me a place to stay when Kim and the girls would come on most weekends so Gordy could be with his family. Thanks for the phone cards and all the prayers from friends, families, and even strangers. All of Gordy's friends who took time out of their busy schedule to visit and call often to check on him. Without all of you this amazing journey would not have happened. God Bless You All Love Joyce

Thanks Deb you have said everything that could be said. You right about mom, she is a special person. The fact that she put up with me all that time makes her a saint. I would never made it thru all this if it wasnt for her.Ive been home now for almost 5 weeks and I love just hanging around the house doing things That needed to be done a long time ago. Hopefully in a couple of months I can go back to work.

I have to backtrack a little. I forgot Deb and Tom (Gordys sister and brother inlaw) for staying with Gordy at the hospital after he received his heart pump. They took time off work and sent me home for a break. They stayed for about 5 days to make sure Gordy wasn't alone for recovery time after the surgery. Deb was also there when we had to learn all about the heart pump so we would know what to do when Gordy went back to the hotel room. Thanks so much Mom
